Baitadi: The Jhulaghat crossing of Baitadi, which is connected to the border with India, will be closed from today. The chief district officer of Baitadi, Bhimkant Sharma, informed that the borders are going to be closed in view of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in India.
Elections for the Lok Sabha are being held in the state of Uttarakhand on 19th April (7th Baisakh). In view of the election, Prazia Sharma said that Zhulaghat crossing will be closed today from 6 pm to 7 pm on 7th Baisakh. It is said that the border can be opened by mutual agreement if it has to be opened accidentally during the period of closure. Coordination has already been done with the Indian authorities to close the border crossing. There is a custom to close the border when there is an election in a country.
