On Tuesday, Dean Thompson, the United States Ambassador to Nepal, made a visit to northern Gorkha. He was joined by Rajendra Bajgain, the elected Member of Parliament from Gorkha-1.
During the visit, Ambassador Thompson toured Sama Village, Samdo, and Barpak in Chumnurbi Rural Municipality.
House of Representatives member, Bajgain, took to Facebook to announce, “I, along with US Ambassador Dean Thompson and the delegation, are on an inspection tour of Northern Gorkha including Samdo, my electoral district and Manaslu Conservation Area.”
Throughout the visit, Ambassador Thompson interacted with local residents, focusing on the effects of climate change in the Himalayan region and the potential for tourism development in the Manaslu area. Bajgain mentioned that they also discussed opportunities for tourism growth in the Manaslu region. Additionally, he noted that Ambassador Thompson and the delegation were set to inspect Gorkha Darbar, a significant symbol of mythology and bravery.
