Fikkal (Ilam): Chairman and Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister of Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RASWPA) Ravi Lamichhane has said that strict action will be taken against the leaders and workers of any party who distribute money in the by-elections. Addressing the election meeting held at Amochak located in Phakphokthum Rural Municipality of Ilam, Lamichhane said that anyone who enters the village carrying bags of money to buy votes during the silent period of the by-elections will be severely punished.
He said that he would take a photo of the person coming to distribute the money and send it within 24 hours. “There is a lot of money movement during the silence period, if someone tries to give money, please take a photo and send it to the Ministry of Home Affairs”, he said, “We will take action on it within 24 hours.”
He said that those who are trying to buy the future of Illam by distributing money in the villages will be made known to the common people. “This is what the security personnel are, please alert the citizens by standing in the intersections, and send those who enter the village carrying bags of money into the same bag and send them to custody”, he said while instructing the security personnel.
Lamichhane mentioned that he did not come to Elam just to win the candidate of his party and said that he came to the election house to win Elam and to win the general citizens of Ilam. RSVP has nominated journalist Milan Limbu in Ilam-2. The RSVP team is now on the verge of election. Bye-elections are being held in Ilam-2 on 15th Baisakh.
