Sunsari – Koshi region won the second consecutive victory in the National Women’s League qualifying tournament. Koshi won 2-1 against Sudurpaschim Pradesh in the first match at Karnali Stadium in Birendranagar, Surkhet on Monday morning.
Magar reviewed both goals to give Koshi the win. He was not even the player of the match. Yashoda Chiral scored a goal for Sudurpaschim. In the ninth minute of the game, Koshi took the lead through Udaipur Mainamaini’s goal.
In the injury time of the first half, Samsika doubled the team’s lead and secured the victory. Yashoda scored in the 49th minute and tried to bring Sudurpaschim back into the game, but it was not enough for victory. Two weeks ago, Koshi won the gold medal by defeating Sudurpaschim Pradesh by 2-0 in Bharatpur, Chitwan.
Koshi team reached Surkhet by changing three players in the said team. Koshi, who has won his second consecutive victory, has scored 6 points in two matches. The defeated Sudurpaschim has three points from two games. In the first match, Koshi defeated Karnali 3-0 and Sudurpaschim defeated Gandaki 5-1.
Team manager Keshav Karki informed that Koshi province will now compete against Lumbini on 14th Baisakh, Madhesh on 16th and Bagmati province on 19th in the national league selection in which 7 provincial teams participated apart from the divisional teams. There will be a total of 21 matches in the single round robin tournament.
The top three teams will be selected for the National Women’s League in the qualifying match that will last until May 20. In this way, 6 teams from the top 3 provinces and 3 departmental teams from Army, Police and APF will compete in the national league.
