Mahottari fire victims waiting for relief

Mahottari: One hundred and fifty fire-affected families of the Muslim settlement of Matihani-6 are waiting for relief. Due to a lack of timely support, they are in trouble.

They lost their lives after 100 houses were burnt down in Wednesday’s fire. One hundred houses of Jhurmutta settlement were burnt to ashes due to the fire that started from the house of Maimun Khatun of the settlement. The fire victims’ families have complained that they have not received relief, but the district administration office has said that efforts are being made to do so. Chief District Officer Shivram Gelal, who is also the chairman of the District Disaster Management Committee, has appealed for assistance.

The emergency executive meeting of Matihani municipality has decided to immediately provide prepared food, food grains and tripal to the affected families. Now, people’s representatives along with the mayor and office staff have started distributing relief materials. The Nepal Red Cross Society Mahottari branch has said that it has provided food to the affected families. Mahottari Red Cross Branch Chairman Deepak Mishra has said that they have come together for support.
