Kathmandu: The hearing for cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane’s case has been scheduled for May 14. Although Lamichhane’s case was set for a hearing on Sunday in a joint bench of Chief Justice Nripadhwaj Niroula and Durgaprasad Dhungel of the Patan High Court, the case was placed on the list of cases that could not be heard that day.
With the case being placed on the list of cases that could not be heard on Sunday, the hearing has been rescheduled for May 14, according to Tirath Bhattarai, spokesperson for the Patan High Court.
“The case involving Sandeep Lamichhane as the defendant has been set for hearing on May 14. The hearing could not take place on Sunday as the same bench was already assigned to other cases,” Bhattarai said. Previously, the court had ordered that the case be given top priority and be heard.
The Kathmandu District Court had found Sandeep guilty in a rape case filed by Gaushala 26 and sentenced him to eight years in prison. In response to the decision by the Kathmandu District Court, Sandeep had appealed to the Patan High Court.
