Kathmandu: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology reported that the country is currently under the influence of westerly winds, local winds, and a low-pressure system formed around the vicinity of Bihar, India. As a result, the weather across the country ranges from partly to moderately cloudy, with light rainfall occurring in one or two places in the Koshi Province.
The department predicts that this afternoon, there will be partial cloud cover across the country. There is a possibility of light rain accompanied by thunder and lightning in several places in Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, as well as other hilly regions. Light snowfall may occur in some parts of the higher hilly and mountainous regions.
Tonight, the weather is expected to be partly to mostly cloudy across the country. The department forecasts a chance of light to moderate rain with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds in some places in Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces and a few other areas. Light snowfall may occur in a few higher hilly and mountainous locations in Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces.
In the next 24 hours, the department anticipates light rain with thunderstorms and lightning in a few places in Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, as well as some remaining hilly areas and one or two places in the remaining Terai regions. Light snowfall may occur in a few higher hilly and mountainous regions.
The department urged caution in the higher hilly and mountainous areas, stating that these conditions could slightly impact daily life, agriculture, health, tourism, mountaineering, and road and air travel.
