Kathmandu: In the final match of the second round of the FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifiers, Nepal will compete against Yemen today. The match, taking place at Prince Mohamed bin Fahd Stadium in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, will start at 11:45 PM Nepal time. Yemen has moved its home game to Saudi Arabia. Nepal, having been defeated consecutively in the second round of the World Cup qualifiers, will be seeking its first victory against Yemen in today’s match.
Nepal’s national football team head coach Vincenzo Alberto Annese has expressed confidence that his team will achieve a good result. Similarly, Nepal’s team captain Kiran Kumar Limbu has stated that they will take to the field with the aim of winning in his final match. This match will mark Limbu’s 100th international game. Nepal, placed in Group ‘H’, has faced defeat in all five of its previous matches. On May 25, Nepal was defeated 4-0 by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in their second match.
The match, which was supposed to be held in Nepal, was moved to Saudi Arabia due to issues with the Dasharath Stadium. Prior to this, Nepal lost 4-0 to the UAE in the first match and 2-0 to Yemen. Nepal also faced a 5-0 defeat in the first match and a 3-0 defeat in the second match against Bahrain. The Nepal team includes goalkeepers and captain Kiran Kumar Limbu, Bishal Sunar, and Abhishek Baral. Defenders include Abhishek Limbu, Ananta Tamang, Bimal Pandey, Bishal Basnet, Chiring Lama, Saubhagya Rai, Sanish Shrestha, and Rohit Chand.
Midfielders include Bharat Khawas, Laken Limbu, Manikumar Lama, Manish Dangi, Suman Shrestha, Basanta Jimba, and Ashish Rai, while the forwards are Gillespie Jung Karki, Hisub Thapaliya, Sanjeev Bista, Ayush Ghalan, and Ashikbabu Chaudhary.
