The much-anticipated U.S. presidential election is taking place today, and American citizens have only a few hours left to cast their votes.

In this election, current Vice President Kamala Harris is running from the Democratic Party, while former President Donald Trump is the Republican candidate.

With just a day left until Election Day, both Harris and Trump have concentrated their efforts on battleground states (states with undecided voters).

The U.S. presidential election, decided by a combination of direct popular votes and the Electoral College, is expected to be highly competitive this time.

Many believe that the change in power through this election for the world’s most powerful nation with direct executive authority will impact the world both directly and indirectly. Both parties have mobilized all available resources to secure victory for their candidates.

As in previous elections, the Democratic and Republican parties have centered their agendas on issues like immigration, gun rights, women’s rights, the economy, and global unrest.

Although the economy has shown some recovery post-COVID-19, inflation has impacted every level, making daily life challenging, especially for those with moderate incomes, as food, fuel, and other essential goods and services have become more expensive. This election is, therefore, being watched closely.

The Democratic Party, which traditionally takes a softer stance on immigration, has put forward Kamala Harris, aiming to make her the first woman in U.S. history to hold the highest executive office.

On the other side, former President Donald Trump, who faces numerous legal challenges, is working hard to return to power for a second term.
