Kathmandu – Nepali Congress General Secretary Gagan Thapa has stated that everyone who acts against the law should be brought under legal investigation. He emphasized that the law should be allowed to work freely and impartially, without prejudice or favoritism, as this is the principle of rule of law.
In a Facebook post, he wrote, “Whether it is the cooperative case, an issue involving a representative, or a case related to human trafficking, those involved, whether they are close to power or distant, new or old, from the crowd or on the sidelines, alone or powerful – the law should be equal for all. Those who make mistakes must face consequences.”
Thapa stressed that everyone must be held accountable within the legal framework and should bear their share of legal responsibility. He made this comment following allegations against former Koshi Province Minister for Internal Affairs and Law, Lilavallabh Adhikari, regarding involvement in human trafficking.
He further stated, “The state cannot selectively treat individuals. It’s not about selection based on beliefs, affiliations, or backgrounds; it’s a matter of law. I firmly believe in this principle. Therefore, whether it is in a closed meeting room or a public space, whether the party is in government or opposition, my faith and belief remain unwavering in this regard.”
