Deepak Manange Sent to Prison

Kathmandu – Gandaki Provincial Assembly member and former minister Deepak Manange (Rajiv Gurung) has been sent to Dilli Bazaar Prison today after being convicted of attempted murder. Manange, who was arrested on Tuesday from Sanobharyang in the capital, was presented to the Kathmandu District Court by the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) for the enforcement of the court’s verdict. The court ordered his transfer to the central prison.

On Kartik 20 (November 5), the Supreme Court upheld the Patan High Court’s decision, sentencing Manange to five years in prison. Based on the High Court’s verdict, Manange now has two years, four months, and one day left to serve. He was sent to prison just two months after resigning from his position as the Minister of Forests in Gandaki Province, he left his post of minister of forest in Gandaki province on Bhadra 17 (September 2).
