Nepal’s Ambassador to Australia, Chitra Lekha Yadav, has expressed her commitment to addressing the issues faced by the Nepali community in Australia. Yadav, who arrived in Sydney on Friday, stated that her primary focus is to address the challenges faced by Nepalese in Australia. She also emphasized her plans to strengthen Nepal-Australia relations by organizing high-level political visits.
She highlighted her intent to make the embassy’s services more user-friendly, accessible, efficient, and prompt by coordinating with all relevant agencies. Upon her arrival in Sydney, Yadav was welcomed at the airport by leaders of the Nepali community, including the President of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) Australia, Anil Pokhrel, and Nepal Government’s Trade Representative for New South Wales, Sanjiv Sharma, among others. The Nepali community in Australia has expressed excitement following Ambassador Yadav’s arrival, believing that her leadership will take Nepal-Australia cooperation to new heights.
President Ram Chandra Poudel appointed Chitra Lekha Yadav as Nepal’s Residential Ambassador to Australia on November 25, 2024, based on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers. Yadav previously served as the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives from 1999 to 2008. Later, on February 25, 2014, she was appointed as the Minister for Education under the Sushil Koirala-led government.
