Sydney,Nepali Ambassador to Australia, Chitra Lekha Yadav, officially assumed her responsibilities on January 17, 2025, upon her arrival in Canberra. During a formal ceremony held at the Embassy, Ambassador Yadav took charge and expressed her commitment to working closely with the Nepali community in Australia.
She emphasized her priority to strengthen Nepal-Australia relations and enhance cooperation in economic, cultural, educational, and other sectors. The Nepali community warmly welcomed her, expressing confidence that her leadership would effectively address their interests in Australia. Her potential to play a significant role in deepening Nepal-Australia relations has been widely appreciated.
On November 25, 2024, President Ram Chandra Poudel, on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers, appointed Chitra Lekha Yadav as Nepal’s Residential Ambassador to Australia. Chitra Lekha Yadav served as the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives from 1999 to 2008.
Later, on February 25, 2014, she was appointed as the Minister of Education in the government led by Sushil Koirala.
