Ashika Tamang, who was arrested on charges of indecent behavior, has been released on bail of NPR 10,000. Kathmandu’s Assistant Chief District Officer Anil Paudel informed that the decision was made to release her on bail.
However, she was re-arrested immediately after her release. On Monday, after the bail was paid, the police re-arrested her and took her to Bhaktapur. The police stated that another case of indecent behavior had been filed against her in Bhaktapur, leading to her re-arrest and transfer to Bhaktapur. She was initially arrested by the Gaushala Police Circle on January 16.
Her arrest was based on a letter of complaint from the Pashupati Area Development Trust dated January 10 and a police report dated January 9. Since there were also charges against her in Bhaktapur’s Jagati Police Circle, she has been handed over to Bhaktapur Police for further proceedings.
