Community Leaders Honored at Bachan News’ First Anniversary Celebration

Sydney-based Bachan News, which has been playing a leading role in community journalism, successfully celebrated its first anniversary with a special event honoring community leader. Congratulating Bachan News on gaining popularity within a short period, the chief guest, Nepal’s Ambassador to Australia, Chitra Lekha Yadav, stated that the news platform has played a crucial role in connecting the community.

Speaking at the anniversary celebration, Ambassador Chitra Lekha Yadav expressed her gratitude for the Nepali media abroad, acknowledging their dedication to both their profession and responsibilities. She emphasized the importance of maintaining integrity and impartiality in journalism, stating, “It is essential to uphold the dignity and honor of this profession by writing with fairness and objectivity.”

During the event, several distinguished individuals were honored, including Narayan Pradhan, recognized as the first Nepali to settle permanently in Australia; Ajay Siwakoti, former president of the Nepal-Australian Democratic Forum; Suraksha Thapa Rayamajhi; Suwash Shah, former president of ANTA; Mun Luo, Multicultural Community Coordinator; and Jagat Tamata, a Nepali cricket coach. Ambassador Chitra Lekha Yadav presented the certificates of recognition to the honorees.

Speaking at the event, Anil Pokharel, President of NRNA Australia, expressed confidence that Vachan News, which has gained popularity in a short time, will continue its active role in the community. He emphasized that journalism is an essential part of society and should not only raise awareness but also appreciate and acknowledge positive contributions.

Krishna Tiwari, President of the Nepal-Australia Journalists’ Association, highlighted the increasing significance of media as the Nepali community grows in Australia. He stressed that media messages should always be based on truth and maintain impartiality.

As a gesture of appreciation, Ranjit Shah from RFM Facility Management and Tej Prajapati from Zenith Migration, who supported the event, were presented with tokens of appreciation.

The event was attended by Dinesh Pokharel, NRNA Oceania Coordinator; Arun Thakur, Deputy Coordinator; Heupati Gurung, President of Tamu Samaj; Sangita Chapagai, Coordinator of Nari Nikunja; former coordinator Sandhya Shah; Ganesh Bhatt, General Secretary of ANJA; and Advisor Dr. Raju Manandhar, among others. They extended their best wishes for the success of Bachan News.

Jeevan Rayamajhi, Chief Editor of Bachan News, stated that the primary goal of the media is to honor dedicated individuals who serve the Nepali community abroad, as media and the community are closely connected.

The event began with a prayer by Pastor Anish Rimal from Hosanna Nepali Church, followed by a message-driven song performance by students from Gospel Church. The program was hosted by Anupama Bastola.
