The Surya Nepal Kathmandu Open, the seventh event of the Surya Nepal Golf Tour 2023–24, is set to begin at the Royal Nepal Golf Club this Tuesday. The tournament will see participation from 32 professional players and nine amateurs, spanning 72 holes of play.
After 36 holes, a cut will be enforced, allowing the top-scoring 21 professionals, including ties, and any amateurs who meet the professional cut, to advance to the final 36 holes.
The tournament boasts a total prize purse of Rs 703,500. The champion will receive a check for Rs 120,000, the runner-up Rs 82,000, and the third-placed golfer Rs 66,000.
Other players within the top 21 will also receive their respective cash prizes.
Subash Tamang is expected to lead the tournament, alongside top-ranked players Bhuwan Nagarkoti, Rabi Khadka, and Dinesh Prajapati. Professional golfers will face tough competition from amateur Sadbhav Acharya, who clinched victory in two events on the Surya Nepal Golf Tour 2023–24.
Sukra Bahadur Rai, the top-ranked professional, will be absent from the tournament due to a wrist injury. The tournament is scheduled to conclude on Friday.
