Kathmandu — The government has appointed Govinda Bahadur Karki, Secretary at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, as the Chief Secretary of Nepal.
The decision was made during the Cabinet meeting held on Wednesday. Government spokesperson Sasmit Pokharel announced the appointment while briefing the media on the meeting’s decisions.
According to Pokharel, the Cabinet also endorsed a number of policy decisions related to education, health, human rights, governance, and public administration.
Among the key decisions, the Cabinet appointed Suraj Shakya as the Development Commissioner of the Kathmandu Valley Development Authority. It also approved the operation of Geta Hospital in Kailali as the teaching hospital of Shahid Dasharath Chand Health Sciences University.
The Cabinet further endorsed the Foreign Academic Programmes (Operation and Regulation) Regulations, 2083, the Educational Consultancy, Language Instruction and Preparatory Classes (Operation and Management) Regulations, 2083, and the Prison Regulations, 2083.
In addition, it approved the Sixth National Human Rights Action Plan (2083/84–2087 (tel:2083/84-2087)/88) and the Second National Strategic Plan Against Corruption (2082/83–2087 (tel:2082/83-2087)/88).
