The decision has been made to appoint Deepak Thapa as the Inspector General of Police (IGP) of Nepal Police.
The Cabinet meeting held on Monday decided to promote Additional Inspector General of Police (AIG) Thapa to the position of IGP. Government spokesperson and Minister for Communication and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, stated that the government has appointed Thapa as the Inspector General of Police.
Starting Monday, the 30th IGP, Basanta Kunwar, will retire after completing 30 years of service. On the eve of this, the government has appointed Thapa as the IGP. Along with Thapa, AIG Tek Bahadur Tamang and Sudip Giri were in competition for the position of police chief.
